FORBES COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY

Rebuilding in a Safe Non-Judgemental Environment

Starting Therapy,
how does the process work?

What is therapy?

There are times in life when challenges can feel overwhelming and it may seem impossible to find your way forward. You might feel stuck, uncertain, or as though you’re facing everything on your own. In these moments, reaching out and having someone to truly listen—someone who offers understanding without judgement—can make all the difference. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with a compassionate listener often helps to lighten the load and bring clarity to even the most confusing situations.

Whether you call it counselling, therapy, or psychotherapy, this supportive process is about working together through whatever is weighing you down. Sometimes, it’s about untangling deeper issues from your past that you might find difficult to let go of. Other times, it’s about managing the relentless pressures of everyday life that can leave you feeling depleted. Whatever brings you here, therapy is an opportunity to explore your experiences in a safe, welcoming space. It can be a liberating and even uplifting journey—one where you not only discover more about yourself but also unlock your strengths and true potential

My Approach - Bridging The Gaps

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I blend several approaches—mainly Person-Centred and Psychodynamic—to match your unique needs, whether you’re exploring current struggles or past issues. My priority is to offer a safe, caring space where you can share as much or as little as you wish, free from judgement, at your own pace. Together, we’ll aim to understand what’s weighing you down and work towards clarity, hope, and new ways forward, always ensuring you feel heard, respected, and supported along the way.

The Way Forward

I offer therapy both Face to Face and online through FaceTime, Teams, or WhatsApp Video—whichever suits you best. My approach isn’t about giving advice or telling you what to do, but about creating a welcoming space where you can share openly and honestly. Together, we’ll explore what’s on your mind, gain understanding, and find new ways forward. My aim is to support and encourage you as you move at your own pace.

  • I work in the following areas

    Anxiety - Bereavement - Bullying - Depression - Family issues - Identity Issues - Generalised anxiety disorder - Low self-confidence - Low self-esteem - Relationship issues - Sexuality - Stress - Loss - Trauma - Work-related stress

  • The Initial Consultation

In our initial consultation, we’ll take time to discuss what’s brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. This is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where you can share as much or as little as you like. It’s also an opportunity for to see if my approach fits your needs, and for both of us to see if we’re a good fit to work together, with no obligation to continue. The session can last up to 75 minutes, giving us space to talk at your pace.

  • How long would I need
    to be in Therapy?

Therapy with me is flexible and shaped around your needs—whether you prefer short-term, long-term, or time-limited support. We’ll work together to find what suits you best, and you’re always in control. If you choose ongoing therapy, we’ll periodically check in to see how things are going and adjust as needed, ensuring your journey continues to feel supportive and right for you.

With long term therapy we will have periodic evaluations to discuss how therapy is going for you and its continuation.

Happiness is not the absence of problems,it's the ability to deal with them.
